The Carl Hansen & Son BM5565 Garden Deck Chair with Footrest expands Børge Mogensen’s Outdoor series, first introduced in 2020. Originally developed for Mogensen’s own balcony in the late 1960s, the deck chair was designed to offer outdoor comfort in a functional, space-saving form.
Known as “the people’s designer”, Mogensen focused on furniture that responds directly to everyday needs. The foldable construction allows the chair to be stored easily when not in use, including the option to hang it on a wall, making it practical for terraces, balconies and smaller outdoor spaces.
Crafted from strong teak wood left untreated, the chair is built for long-term outdoor durability and develops a natural patina over time. The reclining frame and slatted seat follow the body’s natural curves, providing supportive comfort with a light, honest expression.
The design includes a matching footrest for added relaxation. A loose cushion is available separately, made from weatherproof Sunbrella fabric that has a natural look and is easy to clean, allowing you to tailor comfort to your outdoor setting.
